10 Reasons NOT to Buy Your Next Piece of Outdoor Power Equipment from the “Big Box Store”

1. Price- A common misconception among consumers. They see the big store and automatically assume the price is cheaper. NOT AT ALL. More often than not the price is EXACTLY the same or MORE at the "Box Store". The “Box Stores” are notorious for “Door Busters” and they stick it to you on the other stuff!!!!

2. Product Knowledge- Most “Box Store” employees only exist for a pay check. Your local servicing dealer's employee's take much more pride in their work and have much more knowledge and education on the equipment they sell.

3. Warranty Coverage- Have you ever been on hold for 30 minutes to an Hour waiting on someone to tell you where to get your equipment fixed that you bought at the “Box Store”? Oh yeah, you saved money right? No you didn’t!! Remember, your local dealer has in house trained technicians to handle any problems you may have AFTER THE SELL. Many of your local dealers are shying away from repairing equipment sold at the “Box Stores”. We have!!

4. Warranty Registration- Do the “Box Stores” file the warranty registration on your equipment for you? NO, they file nothing at all. If you have a failure it is up to you to prove Date of Purchase. What a Pain!!! We at HHGC always register your product for you so there is no question about date of purchase and no proof needed.

5: Equipment Set-Up and Testing- Do the “Box Stores” properly set-up and test your equipment before you leave with it? Not at all!! They are only interested in getting you checked out and sent on your merry way with a very expensive piece of power equipment “in the box”. Your local servicing dealer will completely assemble and test each piece before it leaves the dealership. If there are any problems, the equipment doesn’t leave the store.

6. A Friendly Face- Do you remember the name of any employee at the “Box Store” where you bought your last piece of power equipment? Probably not. Can you call that person a few days later and ask follow-up questions? We don’t think so. Your local servicing dealer employs family atmosphere people who will most likely be around to help you years after the sell.

7. Delivery of Product- What exactly do the “Box Stores” charge for delivery on a new Mower? Do they work around your schedule? Are they on time? Does the guy who brings it out even know how to start it? Actually the going rate for delivery from the “Box Stores” is $55.00. Wow!! What a Bargain right? Your local dealer will most always deliver for FREE and will work around your schedule. And yes the guy who brings it out will know exactly how to start it!! That’s what we do!!

8. Parts Availability- Your local servicing dealer has qualified parts people who know how to determine exactly the parts you need. We also stock most any servicing part for all equipment we sell so there is never a problem. Have you ever tried to get even a spark plug from the “Box Store” A Nightmare to say the least!!! We have many, many years of experience in the parts business. All you need is your model and serial number(where necessary): WE DO THE REST. Go to the “Box Store” with a model number and need a part, you will get a dumb look and dumb answer!!

9. Finance Options- The “Box Stores” are famous for advertising low interest financing. All local dealers have access to equally competitive finance options, or in some cases better. Believe it or not, local dealers have more power than the “Box Stores” with the Finance Companies. Why? Because nationwide the local dealers sell more than the “Box Stores” do!!! Power is in numbers, not Big Stores!!!

10. Local Economy- When you buy anything from a local dealer the large portion of the monies stay in the community. If you buy from the “Box Stores” the money is sent to a big corporate office and distributed worldwide. This is a very important part of each of our daily lives. Local money puts money back in your pocket!!
